Three Lessons I’ve Learned in Communing with God

You know God’s Will
You begin to understand God’s will more clearly
I love this quote for several reasons. First, let’s read it together.
“We cannot depend for counsel upon humanity. The Lord will teach us our duty just as willingly as He will teach somebody else. If we come to Him in faith, He will speak His mysteries to us personally. Our hearts will often burn within us as One draw nigh to commune with us as He did with Enoch.” (Desires Of Ages 668.4)
Let’s unpack this quote
It is not necessary to depend on other people’s opinions, when especially you have an established relationship with God, who has all the answers. Have you ever been guilty of seeking a justifiable answer from someone else, after God was clear about something? I will be the first to confess I have.
When God reveals His will, that we do not want to obey, the safest attitude is to humble ourselves, confess, and ask God to make us willing.
Lastly, how will we know God’s will or answer? Our hearts will burn in the direction we should go, like Jeremiah when he resisted God’s will to preach, his heart burned with conviction until he obeyed. (Jeremiah 20:9-10)
Secondly, you will be convinced of God’s love for you.
The more time you spend in His word, the more He convinces you that you can never out sin His mercies.

Thirdly, communing with God will help you to be in control of your emotions and words. My youngest brother, who wakes up early like me, knows not to interrupt me in the mornings until I have finished doing my devotions. This is because I have noticed that,
The way I hear God’s voice in the morning shapes how I will speak to others. My selfish wills are always in competition with God’s direction, so it is crucial that I learn to discern His will, lest I mistaken my notions and feelings for his voice.
