Are You Spiritually Falling Asleep? Read Before It’s Too Late

The enchanted ground strategically boarders near the Promised land. In Chapter 35 of The Pilgrim’s Progress, Book 2, Christiana and her company arrive at the Enchanted Ground. The atmosphere in that place caused everyone to be drowsy. Not long after they made progress, it became dark and misty to see. This made everyone to feel frustrated and defeated.

Dear reader, I wonder if you suffering from anxiety or a sense of defeat in your spiritual life? This could be because you do not feel God is close to you as you would like Him to be, or it could because nothing that you have planned is working out. Today, many people are frustrated about many things, especially regarding their spirituality and the devil knows this. The devil has never allowed anyone to escape without suffering from his forester’s attacks, and that is what he is doing to you, despondent soul.

In this blog we will look at two things that Christiana and her group did to escape.

What is the Enchanted Ground?

It is the state in which a Christian is self-satisfied and thinks they have gone as far they need to, and therefore believe that they have changed enough things in their lives. Prayer, and church attendance are skipped, while they comfort themselves with the notion, “God understands me.” After that, the Bible reading and association with ungodly people begin to happen. Once anyone has these changes, they know not how far they will be from God. This was the risk Christiana and her company were in.

1.  Have Hope

The first step they took was to rouse their spirits and encouraged one another to deny the flesh.

Do not miss the point, before they began to encourage one another, they first stirred themselves to be hopeful. Why does this matter?

You cannot give what you do not have. It is false to speak hope to others while you have not endeavoured to be hopeful yourself. Jesus never sent anyone out unless first they had a testimony to tell. A testimony is a test that you have passed, so when Christiana and the rest began to encourage each other, they were offering what by faith they had received from Jesus.

2. Stop And Be Redirected

Thankfully, Christiana and her crew had a Guide named Mr. Great-heart who led them. Him and Mercy are my favourite characters in Book 2. When it was dark and Mr. Great-heart could not see, he halted everyone and checked his map until he was sure of the way. I call this true humility. He was not shy to show that he was as blind as everyone if did not continually rely on God to lead.  

You may be unsure which path to take, God has not left you to guess or assume for in the Word of God lies all the answers.

The Enchanted Ground is Satan last place of assault against the Christian. You do not have to be defeated and give into anxiety, if by faith you accept the comfort of God’s Word, and allow Him to be your guide. 

Satan is frustrated because he does not want to be in hell alone. Leave him alone today, by moving away from whatever will cause you to miss heaven. Leave him alone now, by moving away from any place or association where he is.  Leave him alone immediately, because Jesus is ready to save.
