After Christian went out of the way and was rescued by Evangelist in Pilgrims Progress, we read
“He hurried along, refusing to speak to anyone on the way, even if someone asked him a question. The entire time he walked like one treading on forbidden ground. He wouldn't believe he was safe until he was back on the way which he had left to follow Mr. Worldly-wiseman's counsel.”
When Christian was out of the way, he did everything He could to return to the right path. He hurried, refused to talk to anyone, and answered no question, until he believed he was safe.
Three lessons we can learn from Christian if we want to find God.
1. Move Quickly
Move quickly. Christian did not walk at a calm pace, instead he rushed. When Jesus saw Zacchaeus in the tree, (Luke 19:5), He said,
"Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house."

As Jesus wanted to abide in the house of Zacchaeus, He wants to live in your in heart and, says the same words, “make haste to me." When you delay, you give time to your doubtful heart to tighten its grip on excuses.
2. Avoid Distraction
When you do not feel his presence as you wish, it is good to avoid associations and places where you cannot find Him.
3. Do Not Settle for Almost
Do not be content guessing if you are saved, or not, neither be satisfied with the thought you almost have Him, but be confident and sure, that you are saved by His blood. (Romans 5:9) "And that you are his and He is yours."
