“I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud, and your sins like a mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.” — Isaiah 44:22
To transgress means to trespass, or to cross the line. For example, a boy is told by his mother not to take a cookie from the jar, but in her absence, he goes and does so. The boy has crossed the line. Similarly, this was the sin of Israel, but more than crossing the line, they went far away from God. Even if they had walk back to God, they would not make it in time. So why does God say, “Return to Me? “
Last night, I did devotion with my little brother. He smiled as I expounded on this text, this is what I said,
“If I were God and you took a cookie after I said do not, I would force you remake another. If I were God, and you broke the sabbath, I would make you keep the Sabbath for seven days. Now, if God was to compel you to repay, and make up all the things you stole and broke, your time on earth would not be enough.
Therefore, when we read God say, ‘Return,’ he means purpose in your heart to desire Me, because he is the one who walks the kilometres to you, and says, ‘I took all your failures. Let’s start fresh from here. ’ This is what it also means to have your sins blotted out, not blown away, but forgotten as though you never sinned.

Amen! Glory be to God for mercy and grace 🙏🏾
