In Pilgrim’s Progress, Book 2, Christiana the wife of Christian, followed the footsteps of her husband, accompanied her were her two sons and a friend. Their journey came with many challenges, but they were never alone. God had ensured with every obstacle that they faced, they never needed to guess or assume, because God was their counsellor.
In Chapter 21, when Christiana and her family reached the cross, they too experienced the same joy and peace that Christian experienced. A man named Interpreter, who accompanied them, said to them, Go put on the clean clothing.
When they did so, they became awestruck and even fearful of one another, for although they could see no change in themselves, they could see the glory of God in each other. For this reason, they began to esteem each other better than themselves. "You are more full of grace," said one. "You are more pure," said another.
The effect of the cross in the life of Christiana and her family, led them to admire each other’s character. This is the same nature that comes upon anyone who has truly come to the cross and allows Jesus to influence their thoughts and words.
When this mindset becomes part of us, it is then that we will be ready for Heaven. It is a big mistake to think that we must be in Heaven to have this nature, if this is never our experience on this earth, I am not afraid to say, Heaven will never be a place for you.
May Our Lord help us to have this mind of Christ. Amen.
"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself." — Philippians 2:3

Amen!! Thank you for sharing this. I haven’t read 2 book of pilgrim progress. It’s wonderful to hear that Christiana followed the footsteps of Christian. May we all thrive to come to the Cross and allow Jesus to influence our thoughts and words.
