In Chapter 17 of The Pilgrim’s Progress, Christian and Hopeful arrive in Beulah Land, which boarders the Promise Land, the air in this place was sweet and refreshing. Christian and Hopeful enjoyed the continual singing of birds and beautiful flowers. As the pilgrims progressed, they were brought into a more wonderful view of the city of God.
However, there was one more hurdle Christian and Hopeful needed to overcome, The Shining Ones told them.
The Pilgrims became very despondent and lost hope especially Christian, when they saw that they had to cross a running river.
Christian asked the Shining Ones, if they could go with them?
But they replied, “You must obtain it by your own faith…. And you must go through it, or you cannot approach the Gate.”
After all, Christian and Hopeful eventually resolved to cross the river.

I will stop here, and in our next blog we shall learn what happened after.
I am so glad to read that Christian and Hopeful went forward as a testament to their desire for Jesus. The other day I read a statement from Charles Spurgeon that startled me.
“If you can wait for Christ and be patient in the Hope of having fellowship with Him at some distant season, you will never have fellowship at all.”
This quote is very profound, what he is saying is, if you can wait to have Jesus sometime later, rather than now, you will never have Him, because the character of someone who desires and possess Christ, is that they do not waste time to move forward, because they know the enemy neither waits for anyone to choose Him.
The question is not whether Jesus will accept you, but will you move forward to Him now?
