Running Without Oil

Yesterday, I preached a sermon titled, “What I Have Learnt in My Wilderness.”

Last Friday, while I was working at one of my client’s houses, the chain on my chainsaw came off its track, I went to fix it, but I also noticed my chainsaw had been operating without oil.

Immediately, I thought of a powerful lesson.

How many people are engaged in Christian service but are destitute of the Spirit of God. More often than not, a lot of Christians who are in services are empty of the Holy Spirit, and sadly many do not know like Samson, after he revealed the secret of his strength the bible records, “he did not know that the Lord had departed from him.” Judges 16:20

He did not know the Spirit left him, because he also did not know what it meant to have the Spirit inside him. For a time, the Spirit of God hovered around him like a drone, but he would not let it inside. Is the spirit of God hovering around you, or is it in you?

I am reminded of the quote from Charles Spurgeon who once wrote:

“If the Lord has ordained to save you, surely He will not refuse to instruct you in His ways.

It is the will of the Lord to save you (2 Peter 3:9). Therefore, He will not deny you the instruction that you need to know, so that you will be saved.

Through the circumstances you are in, what lessons is God trying to teach you?
