The Filth Is All Within

A newly baptised man attended a church that taught he was saved because of baptism. In His defence He boldly would say, "I am saved because I have been baptised, which has made me a child of God."
An Elder who sought to correct his thinking picked up an ink bottle.
Then said, "Now, I will wash it."
After washing the outside of that of the ink-filled bottle, he invited the man to drink out of it.
"No," said the Man, "it is black, all black; it is not clean just because you have washed the outside."
"Oh," replied the Elder, "and so it is with you; all that those drops of water could do, all that your baptism could do for you, was to wash the outside; but that does not make you clean, for the filth is all within."
