Why Ignorance Did Not Make It

In past blogs, we learnt Ignorance had two major issues. First, he had good desires that were not backed up by actions. The second issue with Ignorance was that the Bible was not the basis of his actions or reasoning. Instead, he heavily relied on his feelings rather than the Word of God to govern him.
In this devotional, we will learn what became of Ignorance, and how you can prevent yourself from sharing the same doom.
In chapter 17 of the Pilgrim’s Progress, I could not find anything that proved Ignorance unfitness for heaven, until I looked what made Christian and Hopeful accepted there.
When the two pilgrims arrived in heaven they were welcomed with a joyful procession, it was as if all heaven came to meet them. John Bunyan, the author, commented on this moment,
“It seemed that Christian and Hopeful had already reached Heaven before they had came there.”

This is the distinguishing trait that separated Christian and Hopeful from Ignorance, while Ignorance dreamed about being in heaven, on the other hand, Christian and Hopeful were living as if they were already there. If I can put it in a different way, the two Pilgrims did not wait to be heaven to live a certain way. Heaven was in them before they arrived, and that is the purpose of our existence on earth is to rehearse the life we going to live in heaven.
Is this your life? Is this your mindset? Why is it not? When will you start? Must you deceive yourself like Ignorant believing that God is working on you, but what are you giving God something to work with? Are you placing yourself in environments that are counteracting the work of God?
Lastly, how are you ensuring this year will not be the same as any other year? This is the reasoning Ignorance failed to wrestle with and ultimately cost his salvation.
Dear sincere reader, I thank you for visiting this website and reading these blogs, if I have only almost persuaded you to be a Christian may God forgive me for my short coming, but if your heart has been rekindled do not stop here, share this good news. You will find from doing so, you maintain your zeal, but not only that, you will notice when you go to uplift others you are helping yourself to remain uplifted.
